UPRISING 025 LIVE FROM MIAMI, FLORIDA!

'Game On' by Discipline begins to play as the words 'NLW' flash across the screen, and the scene flashes back to the yet to be aired Blackout, as clips are shown for the first time from the show. CJ 'Flash' Foster pins Plague to win the Destiny Championship. Venom takes out X-Terminator, which leads to a match between Nick James and Venom that sees Nick James use the 'Anti-Williams' to put Venom through a table and win the Legacy championship via count out, and in our main event, Jesse Williams uses a roll-up to pin The Phoenix to beat both him and The Ice Man for the NLW Championship! The scene cuts to ringside, with Caelan Tyler and Jake Steel.

Caelan Tyler: Hello and welcome to the first Uprising of the summer! I'm Caelan Tyler and with me here as always is 'The Real Deal' Jake Steel!

Jake Steel: I really need to find a gig that doesn't involve working with you.

Caelan Tyler: Whatever Jake. We have an exciting show planned for all you fans tonight, as three new competitors will be debuting. First in a triple threat we'll see 'Cool and Refreshing' Olivia Winterbourne take on fellow newcomer Okuma as well as 'Untamed' Nick James, and then we'll have a Top Rope Triumph match, where Kevin Heat will be facing off against another newcomer: Ethan Dashery. Excited Jake?

Jake Steel: Absolutely thrilled. No hardcore matches, talk about a limit to the abuse...

Caelan Tyler: Going to that MVW show spoiled you Jake.

Jake Steel: That's enough to spoil anyone!

GREASING THE WHEELS...

Caelan Tyler: I'm sure Jake.

Jake Steel: It was awesome!

In the back area of the arena, Ethan Dashery is seen, walking down the hallway. He seems strangely focused, as he checks each door he walks by, before suddenly stopping before one. He slowly opens the door, and leans in.

Ethan Dashery: Hey...you know who I am?

From within, there's the sound of a male voice.

Male Voice: Wha...yeah, you're Dashery.

The camera draws closer, but still staying discretely back. Ethan leans a little further into the room, pushing a hand into his pocket. He pulls something out, tossing it into the room.

Ethan Dashery: You got kids?

Male Voice: ...yeah.

Ethan Dashery: Wife? Mortgage on a house with a white picket fence and a dog in the yard?

There was more hesitation in the voice, as Dashery made another few tossing motions.

Male Voice: Something like that...

Ethan Dashery: Then we've got a deal. Life isn't cheap when you're born low.

With a quick nod, Ethan steps away from the door, marching back down the hallway from which he came. Once he's almost out of sight, the camera draws close to the door he stepped in. It's still ajar, and when the camera peeks through, a man in a striped shirt and black pants can be seen, shaking his head in some kind of dilemma, while scooping up a dozen or so hundred dollar bills on the floor. He freezes, hearing the camera, but as he turns his head upward, the camera slips out of sight, as the scene cuts back to ringside.

Caelan Tyler: ...Did Dashery just try to buy off the referee?

Jake Steel: Hey, maybe the referee agreed to wash his car or something.

THE FALLEN WARRIOR

Caelan Tyler: ...Wash his car? For that kind of scratch?

Jake Steel: Maybe the ref does a damn good job. Who am I to speculate?

Caelan Tyler: ...You're a commentator Jake, it's your job to speculate.

Jake Steel: Bah!

Caelan Tyler: Well, on a more serious note...

Jake Steel has a shit-eating grin on his face as Caelan begins to speak solemnly.

Caelan Tyler: For those of you who may not be aware of it, one of the more prominent names in NLW is unable to be with us for the foreseeable future. The Phoenix, a former NLW Legacy and current Anarchy X champion, suffered a life-threatening injury in March, at OWF's Campus Chaos event; two months later the injury became worse and forced him to have surgery that is expected to keep him out of the ring for the remainder of 2009, if not beyond that. Both times, the injury was caused or aggravated by the reigning NLW Champion, Jesse Williams.

Jake Steel: Thank the wrestling gods, the King of Choke is history! See, Caelan, I told you that Jesse Williams is a champion we can be proud of! Look at what he did to that worthless sack of shit Phoenix!

Caelan Tyler: You're actually getting joy out of one man's suffering?

Jake Steel: You mean The Phoenix? Damn right I am.

Caelan Tyler: You are a despicable human being, Jake.

???: You took the words out of my mouth, Caelan.

The crowd pops as the big screen over the entranceway comes alive with a shot of The Phoenix at his home via satellite link. The big man is still sporting a neck brace, but he looks to be in far better condition than the last time he was seen on television.

Jake Steel: No one cares about a washed-up has been, Your Majes--

The Phoenix: Jake, shut the hell up. Broken neck or not, I could still kick your ass eight ways from Sunday. I won't even need to throw someone into you to make it happen this time. You'd be wise to remember that.

Caelan Tyler: All that aside, Phoenix, how goes the recovery?

The Phoenix: Slow, painful, but on the right track. Right now, I can't confirm or deny my future plans; they're liable to change at any given point in time. But I have talked with President Eriq Mobely as to the future of the Anarchy X title, and I've given him free reign to set up when the title match will be, and who the participants will be. That will free me up to focus on recovery, and possibly coming back to the ring in 2010.

Caelan Tyler: Say you do come back, Phoenix. What's the agenda?

The Phoenix: It's hard to say right now, Caelan--like I said, plans can change at a moment's notice--but first and foremost would be the NLW Championship. My personal vendetta can take a back seat until I've done what I want professionally, and that's become the first person to win the career NLW Triple Crown.

Caelan Tyler: And what of Jesse Williams?

The Phoenix: (smirks) Frankly, Caelan, I'll be shocked if he's still the NLW Champion by year's end. NLW is a completely different beast, and with the level of talent that I've come to expect from NLW, he's going to be in for a fight to hang on to that belt. And if--I stress the word IF--he is still champion when I fully recover...well, paybacks are like Jake Steel's mom: a straight-up bitch.

Before Jake can make an inane retort, the shot on the big screen cuts to black as the crowd pops at the insult directed towards NLW's color commentator.

Jake Steel: Why you son of a--

Caelan Tyler: Jake Steel gets owned. I think this has to be the best segment of Uprising ever.

OLIVIA WINTERBOURNE VERSUS OKUMA VERSUS NICK JAMES
TRIPLE THREAT

Jake Steel: Dammit, Caelan, this isn't right!

Caelan Tyler: So? Serves you right for always ragging on the guy.

Jake Steel: *grumble grumble*

'Walking on Sunshine' begins playing, as the lights of the arena shift into bright shades of pink, green, and blue. Olivia Winterborne steps out onto the stage, wearing an intensely bright pink singlet, with a sparkly My Little Pony design in the middle of her chest.

She strikes a pose for the audience, as bright colored fireworks and sparklers go off behind her. She hops happily down one side of the ramp, high five-ing every...single...person on that side. When she reaches the bottom, she heads all the way back up, and repeats for the other side, making sure to not miss a single extended hand.

Once she finally gets to the ring, she slides in, and grabs a microphone from a staffer.

Olivia Winterborne: I'm Olivia Winterborne...

The audience cheers decently.

Olivia Winterborne: ...and YOU'RE AWESOME!

The crowd goes nuts, as she tosses the microphone out of the ring, as her music stops playing.

Zach King: The following match is a triple threat match and it's scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from West Valley, Utah... Weighing in at 280 pounds... 'COOL AND REFRESHING' OLIVIA WINTERBOURNE!

Caelan Tyler: This is Olivia's first match in a NLW ring, and she's demonstrated the fact that she's quite...perky.

Jake Steel: Yeah, right. 'Perky'. I guess that's one word for it.

Caelan Tyler: What word would you use Jake?

Jake Steel: Nauseating.

Caelan Tyler: Whatever Jake.

Lights go out as the crowd ohhhs and ahhs in anticipation. Evolution by Ayumi Hamasaki begins as a light show plays. Okuma followed by his ring entourage begins to run through the hallway and out to the entrance area. His (and the entourage's) run slows to a walk as the crowd cheers him down the entrance way. A spotlight flashes down on him and follows him all the way. The entourage follows behind Okuma as he jumps up onto the ring entrance and enters the ring going to a neutral corner. He then removes his bright purple ring robe and tosses it to a member of his entourage. His entourage, with the exception of his interpreter and manager Asuka, then walk back to the locker room area.

Zach King: Introducing next, from Osaka, Japan... Weighing in at 232 pounds... OKUMA!

Jake Steel: Another individual who's making their NLW debut here today, Okuma has developed quite a following during his time spent on the independent circuit before being signed by the NLW.

Caelan Tyler: Isn't he a submission specialist?

Caelan Tyler: Yes Jake.

Jake Steel: Then yawn.

Flickering red and purple stage lights strobe over the dimmed entrance and the upbeat tempo of Angry Young Man by Billy Joel slams out through the arena. The curtains burst open with flourish and James pauses on the stage, looking down to peer out at the crowd over top his sunglasses, with both the Legacy and NLW Tag Team championships strapped around his mid-section. Soaking in their cheers for a moment, James brushes them off, marching toward the ring while he wraps white tape around his wrists. James leaps from the floor to the apron without even taking a running start, then hooks an arm over the middle rope and rolls through into the ring, throwing his arms out to the sides and spinning in a circle as he enjoys the spotlight. He then eyes his two opponents as he unhooks the belts from around his waist and hands them to the referee.

Zach King: And their opponent, from Brantford, Ontario, Canada... Weighing in at 171 pounds... He is the one half of the NLW Tag Team champions as well as the Legacy champion... 'UNTAMED' NICK JAMES!

Caelan Tyler: This match-up is going to be an interesting test for Nick, as he had all the momentum in the world earlier this year when he helped to end the longest title reign in NLW history, as well as capturing the Legacy championship by beating Venom.

Jake Steel: The kid has absolutely no regard for his own well-being, gotta respect that.

The bell rings, and Nick James wastes no time getting started, bouncing himself off of the ropes and lunging forward, drilling Okuma with a leaping shoulderblock. Both men pop right back up, and Olivia takes advantage of the situation, connecting with a double clothesline. Both men get up again as Olivia claps in excitement, glancing at each other before nodding and delivering chops in stereo on Ms. Winterbourne. The crowd ohhhs at the sound of the impact, and they both grab Olivia's arm and irish whip her. As she bounces back Nick catches her with a spinning heel kick, knocking the wind right out of her sails. Okuma then slaps a headlock on Nick, wrestling him down to a seated position.

Caelan Tyler: Some cooperation at the start here, but it looks like Okuma took advantage of his experience to get the upper hand in that exchange.

Jake Steel: BOO! Submission holds are boring!

Caelan Tyler: It's a smart tactic though Jake, you gotta give him that. Grounding Nick James is definitely going to make his life easier.

Jake Steel: Bah, I want to see the kid do something crazy already!

Okuma continues to wrench on the head and neck of Nick as Olivia gets back to her feet, clubbing Okuma across the back of the head with a forearm. Olivia then grabs Okuma and whips him over the top rope, sending him spilling to the outside. Olivia then yells out to the crowd, who start cheering. While she showboats, Nick gets to his feet, bouncing himself off of the ropes. Olivia turns around as Nick takes flight, attempting to catch her with a cross body. His luck failing him, Nick finds himself in a bad spot as Olivia catches him, holding him for a second before throwing him backwards with a fallaway slam! Olivia quickly slides over for the pin attempt:

1...

2...

No, Okuma reaches into the ring, grabbing Olivia by the foot and yanking her out to ringside! The two start trading blows on the outside as Nick comes to. Seizing the moment, Nick launches himself over the top rope with a twist, crashing down onto his two opponents.

Caelan Tyler: Well Jake, you wanted to see some of Nick's risk taking and he's followed through for you.

Jake Steel: No one's bleeding yet though, they haven't even registered on the Abuse-O-Meter yet.

Caelan Tyler: Jake, you won't be happy until someone dies in that ring, will you?

Jake Steel: Probably not no.

Nick grabs Okuma, setting him up and driving him back-first into the guard-rail with a side russian leg sweep. Olivia then clubs Nick in the back before turning him and ramming him back-first into the ring. She then rolls him back into the ring, where she quickly DDTs him to the mat. She then pulls him up and whips him into the corner, running after him and nailing him with an avalanche splash! She swiftly charges back, bouncing off of the ropes and catching Nick with a big lariat as he stumbles out of the corner.

Caelan Tyler: Olivia calls that combination the Sunshine Double Spot!

Jake Steel: Even her move names sound like she just came from a pep rally.

Caelan Tyler: She seems to like to get the crowd into it.

Jake Steel: Then she should use more ABUSE~!

Caelan Tyler: *Sighs*

Okuma slides into the ring, stalking Olivia as her attention is focused on Nick. Olivia picks up on the change in the crowd, and turns around. Okuma quickly takes her to the mat with a single leg takedown, transitioning it into a ground and pound. The referee keeps checking to make sure Okuma is keeping the strikes clean before Okuma relents, standing up and bouncing off the ropes before delivering a snapping elbow drop to the prone Winterbourne. He then quickly goes for a pin:

1...

2...

No, Olivia kicks out! At this point Okuma turns his attention to Nick James, who's slowly getting to his feet. In a flash Okuma is behind him with a waistlock, quickly tossing him up with a release german suplex! Okuma then grabs Nick's legs, looking to apply a submission. Okuma twists the Legacy champ's legs, applying a figure four leglock to try to wear him down. The referee checks on Nick, but he refuses to give in. Olivia, realizing the potential problem, gives Okuma a big splash, breaking the hold!

Caelan Tyler: A big splash by Olivia put an end to that submission move!

Jake Steel: Okuma must know what an ant feels like now when you step on it.

Caelan Tyler: It's a move that would definitely knock the wind right out of you.

Jake Steel: And probably squash your kidneys.

Winterbourne pops back up, yelling 'YAY!' to the crowd as she pulls Okuma up before delivering a stiff elbow across the top of his head. Okuma retaliates with a palm strike, catching Olivia off-guard. Okuma delivers another before backing up and drilling her with a savate kick! Okuma then quickly goes for the pin again:

1...

2...

No! Nick breaks it up with a lunging double axe handle! Nick then pulls Okuma to his feet, grabbing him by the shoulders and falling back, delivering a monkey flip that sends Okuma towards the turnbuckles. Okuma slides between the top and middle turnbuckle, impacting his shoulder on the steel post. Nick then grabs Okuma and drags him to ringside, pulling him over to a side where several fans are holding up a sign that says 'Splatter Zone'. Nick gives these fans a thumbs up before delivering a knife-edged chop that knocks Okuma back into the barricade.

Caelan Tyler: Nick's really taking it to Okuma here. There's been a rumor going around that Nick was upset over having been put into this match instead of the main event, and it looks like he's out to show management the error of their ways.

Jake Steel: As long as he ends up dialing up the abuse a few notches I'm cool with that. The kid's a double champ and he's getting low billing? Bad call.

Caelan Tyler: Maybe management just wanted to use Nick James' popularity to whip the fans into a frenzy to open up the show?

Jake Steel: Maybe they STFU!

With Okuma momentarily stunned, Nick climbs onto the ring apron and then up to the top turnbuckle, positioning himself for a high risk move to the outside. Nick's focus on Okuma makes him oblivious to Ms. Winterbourne, who's back to her feet and quickly shoves Nick off of the top. Nick flies to the outside, slamming into the ring barricade! Olivia then rolls to the outside, grabbing Okuma and sliding him back into the ring. Olivia then pulls Okuma up into a bear hug, holding it momentarily before delivering a spinebuster! Olivia then goes for the pin:

1...

2...

No, Okuma kicks out in time! Olivia pouts for a moment before smiling again, jumping to her feet and whipping Okuma into the ropes. As Okuma bounces back she catches him with a massive spinning side slam!

Caelan Tyler: Olivia taking advantage of Nick's high risk style here, and now she's putting the boots to Okuma.

Jake Steel: She hasn't kicked him at all this match Cael, why are you lying to the fans at home?

Caelan Tyler: ...It's a figure of speech Jake.

Jake Steel: Yeah right, I just think you're a compulsive liar.

Caelan Tyler: Am not!

Jake Steel: There you go with the lying again!

Caelan Tyler: ...*Sighs*

With a smile on her face still, Olivia applies a camel clutch to Okuma, attempting to force the Japanese submission specialist to tap out. She pulls back on the hold, arching his back and neck and trying to make the pain become unbearable. At this point Nick starts to regain his bearing, quietly sliding into the ring. Sizing up the situation, instead of breaking the hold Nick grabs Okuma's legs and applies a boston crab, with Okuma now being bent like a horseshoe! Okuma yells out in pain from the added pressure, but still refuses to tap out. Olivia notices Nick behind her and releases her hold, swinging her elbow back and catching Nick in the side of the head. Nick releases his hold as well, and Olivia grabs him and delivers a big belly to belly suplex.

Caelan Tyler: Olivia has really taken over the match at this point, showing more power than we've ever seen out of a female wrestler in NLW.

Jake Steel: All I ask is that you don't make any bad puns about it Cael.

Caelan Tyler: Like what?

Jake Steel: Like 'she's womanhandling those two' or something equally terrible.

Caelan Tyler: You're the one who makes the bad puns Jake, not me.

Jake Steel: Psh.

Pulling Nick up, Olivia lifts him up from a standing headscissors position before dangling his body. Yells out 'YAY' to the crowd before delivering the Fresh by the Cool! Olivia rolls Nick over, going for another pin attempt:

1...

2...

No! The pin is broken up by Okuma, who catches Olivia with a seated dropkick! Olivia gets up, only for Okuma to catch her with a spinning back fist before unloading with a few more palm strikes. Okuma then does a standing switch, delivering a back suplex. With Olivia on the mat, Okuma decides it's time to try for the Osaka Deathlock!

Caelan Tyler: With Nick down and out if Okuma gets this move locked in then the match will almost certainly be all over!

Jake Steel: NOO! There hasn't been enough abuse yet!

Okuma tries to flip Olivia over for the move, but she fights it. Okuma continues to struggle, but finds himself unable to get his larger opponent onto her belly. In frustration Okuma releases the hold, instead pulling Ms. Winterbourne to her feet before putting on a great display of leverage by drilling her to the mat with a dragon suplex! Okuma quickly transitions the suplex, applying a cattle mutilation! Olivia struggles to try to free herself from the hold as Okuma tries his best to keep it applied. At this point Nick has come to, and he quickly climbs to the top rope. Measuring distance, Nick launches himself off of the turnbuckle, delivering a beautiful shooting star senton bomb onto Okuma! Okuma releases the hold in pain, as Nick quickly goes for the pin attempt!

1...

2...

3... No! Nick is yanked out of the ring at the last second, only to come face to face with the other half of the NLW Tag Team Champions X-Terminator!

Caelan Tyler: X-T?! What is he doing here? Last I heard he hadn't signed a new contract with NLW yet.

Jake Steel: What, no! This is a bad time to interfere! Nick was just putting the abuse to Okuma!

Nick stares at X-T for a moment, confused before his partner drills him with a solid left. X-T then unstraps the tag belt from around his waist and drives it into Nick's face! The referee calls for the bell at this point as X-T slides Nick into the ring. Olivia gets to her feet, only to catch the belt to the face as well, and the same fate befalls Okuma as well! X-Terminator then rolls out of the ring, grabbing a steel chair.

Zach King: The winner of this match as a result of a disqualification: 'UNTAMED' NICK JAMES!

Caelan Tyler: This doesn't make sense? Why is X-Terminator attacking his own partner?

Jake Steel: Well, Nick did take his Legacy title...

X-T seems to get even more upset when Nick is announced the winner, and he slides into the ring as Nick tries to steady himself on the ropes. He lines up his shot and CRACK! The chair bounces off of Nick's skull as he falls to the mat. X-T pulls Nick up, and upon noticing that the chair opened up a cut on Nick's head begins to pepper it with lefts, attempting to open it up more. Sliding the chair in place, X-T lifts Nick up and delivers the X-Rated, driving Nick into the steel once again. X-T then removes his 'Mother CuNuckers' shirt, using it to wipe some of the blood off of Nick's head. He then smears some of the blood on his tag belt, slinging it over his shoulder. As X-T exits the ring, he spots the 'Splatter Zone', and whips his now-bloodied t-shirt at them before taunting them. Security has now made their way to ringside, and they quickly get X-T out of the arena.

Caelan Tyler: This is just a mess, to see the first match of NLW's return ended like this...

Jake Steel: Well I'm torn.

THE CHAMP'S RETORT

Caelan Tyler: What do you mean, you're 'torn'?

Jake Steel: Well on the one hand he did beat the crap outta Nick, but on the other hand... ABUSE~!

Caelan Tyler: *Sighs*

Just then, the jumbotron comes to life, showing the NLW and OWF World champion Jesse Williams. A smirk is on his face as the crowd immediately starts to boo.

Jesse Williams: Yeah yeah, boo me all you want, that doesn't really matter. I'm sure you all think I owe you an apology for not showing up there tonight, don't you?

The booing continues, which Jesse just shrugs off.

Caelan Tyler: Scheduling conflicts happen. I had other obligations for the evening when the card was announced, but don't worry, your champion will be there soon enough.

The boos continue as the image on the jumbotron pulls out, revealing EJ Slayer, who's standing next to Jesse. Jesse has both the NLW and OWF championships slung over his shoulders.

Jesse Williams: I do have something I want to say to The Phoenix though: just give it up. I beat you three times in a row. I damn near crippled you. Three strikes and you're out Phoenix. Let it rest and don't worry about it, because the NLW Championship is in good hands, and like my other title, I don't plan on letting it go anytime soon. See you next Uprising.

With that, the jumbotron cuts out.

Caelan Tyler: Strong words by the champ there.

Jake Steel: Well, he is the champ, and he's right you know.

KEVIN HEAT VERSUS ETHAN DASHERY
TOP ROPE TRIUMPH

Caelan Tyler: What do you mean?

Jake Steel: The Phoenix just needs to give it up, the man's just not championship material.

Caelan Tyler: *Sighs* Well, I just received word from Eriq Mobely confirming that X-Terminator has been re-signed by NLW, and he'll be making his in-ring return next Uprising!

Jake Steel: Sweet! Against who though?

Caelan Tyler: He didn't say...

The arena lights shift to differing shades of red, as spotlights focus on at the top of the entrance ramp, while 'Debonaire' by Dope begins playing. As the heavier guitars come in, Ethan Dashery steps onto the stage, holding his hands in the air, as if gesturing for the whole world to check him out.

He saunters down the entrance ramp, sneering at the audience and trading insults with nearby fans. Reaching the ringside area, he charges onto the ring apron near one of the corners, before vaulting over the top rope and into the ring, landing on the adjacent second rope, where he takes a few final pot shots at the fans, and spits at them, before hopping off the ropes. The music fades and the lights return to normal, as Dashery leans cockily in his corner, waiting for the match to start.

Zach King: The following match is a Top Rope Triumph match! To win the match you must hit a maneuver off of the top rope, and you then have a ten second window to secure the pinfall. Making his way to the ring first, from Warwick, Rhode Island... Weighing in at 195 pounds... ETHAN DASHERY!

Caelan Tyler: This will be the first-ever professional match for Ethan Dashery; you have to think that his opponent will be at a disadvantage because of this.

Jake Steel: I don't have to think anything, Caelan--I'm still grateful that we don't have a fat tub of lard in the main event! Finally some fresh blood.

'Fireproof” begins to play as Kevin Heat walks onto the stage, pauses, then takes a dead run to the ring. He slides into under the ropes, the crowd watches as he stands on the turnbuckle, getting a big pop from the fans.

Zach King: And his opponent, from Baltimore, Maryland... Weighing in at 228 pounds... KEVIN HEAT!

Caelan Tyler: And surprisingly, the fans have taken Heat back since our hiatus; I wonder how long that will last.

Jake Steel: I give it five minutes, tops.

As the bell sounds to begin the match, Heat catches the rookie unawares with a running dropkick to the side of the head. Dashery falls to the mat as Heat quickly locks in a side headlock, looking to frustrate the NLW newcomer by staying on the offensive. After a moment, Ethan gets to his feet and shoves Heat away from him, and catches a returning Heat with a textbook dropkick that sends the former Legacy champion to the mat. Dashery thinks for a moment about going up top, looking for a chance at the first pin attempt of the match, but Heat quickly rolls out of the ring to prevent that from happening.

Caelan Tyler: Kevin Heat's attempting to slow the pace of the match down some, which isn't too bad of a strategy on his part.

Jake Steel: Strategy, schmategy. Break out the chairs already!

As Kevin tries to collect his breath, he looks up in time to see Dashery sailing through the air before landing a high cross body from the top rope that sends both men to the floor in a heap. It takes a moment before Dashery is back to his feet, throwing Heat into the ring and sliding in to attempt a cover. The referee pauses for a split second, realizing that the ten-second rule has not expired yet before sliding into the count:

1...

2--Shoulder up at two and a quarter by Heat. Dashery rises up from the lateral press and gives the referee a strange look in passing before blasting a rising Heat with a running boot to the head.

Caelan Tyler: Even the referee seemed to forget the rules of this match for a moment, the action's been that fast-paced so far.

Jake Steel: Meh, I've seen better.

Heat appears to be in trouble, and Dashery senses this as steps out onto the apron, leaps to the top rope and springboards off of it to hit a guillotine leg drop. Without wasting time, he shifts into a cover and hooks the far leg, as the ref slides in after the top rope maneuver:

1...

2...

Shoulder up at two and a half this time. A sour look crosses Ethan's face as he picks Heat up off the mat and sets the Baltimore native up for what looks to be a shoulderbreaker...at least, that is until Dashery alters his opponent's movement just slightly and drives the knee into the skull of Heat. He drops, as if looking for a cover, but remembers at the last moment that it wouldn't be valid at this point in time. Instead, he stays on one knee, throwing his arms wide as he taunts the crowd at how he has controlled the early portion of this match.

Jake Steel: You know, I think I might like this Dashery kid. Arrogant, brash, kinda reminds me of me!

Caelan Tyler: And what fantasy world are you living in this week, Jake?

With a smirk, Ethan pulls Heat to his feet again, spins around once and lands a European uppercut that staggers Heat all the way back into the turnbuckles. Seeing an opportunity, Dashery charges in, but Heat manages to jump to the middle ropes as Ethan's shoulder impacts the middle turnbuckle. Shifting his weight vertically, Heat now crouches on the top rope as Dashery stands, and the rookie is re-introduced to the mat courtesy of a top rope flipping neckbreaker! Both men lay still on the mat as the crowd starts the ten-second countdown. They get to one second remaining before Heat is barely able to roll over and drape an arm over Dashery. The ref slides in for the cover:

1...

2...

3--no, right shoulder comes up off the mat!

Caelan Tyler: Heat almost pulled one out there, but Dashery had too much time to recover.

Jake Steel: (snickers)

Caelan Tyler: What was that about, Jake?

Jake Steel: Oh, just imagining seeing Phoenix paralyzed by that move.

Caelan Tyler: For the love of...

Both men are incredibly slow to get up, but it is Heat who is up first and coming to his senses. Shaking the cobwebs out, he waits for Dashery to get to his feet before moving into action, hitting with a low dropkick that drops Ethan flat to the mat once again. The final Juniorweight Champion seems to sense a shift in the momentum in his favor, and it shows as he seems to be a bit more lively as he springs to the middle turnbuckle nearest Dashery, waits a moment, and leaps backward, twisting in midair to hit an enzuigiri on the groggy rookie! The crowd pops in appreciation of that move as Heat kips up, his eyes set on finishing the debuting Dashery in the very near future. Without a lot of wasted motion, Heat pulls Dashery into a sitting position and locks in a modified Dragon Sleeper on the debutante.

Caelan Tyler: Death by Fire is locked on Ethan Dashery here!

Jake Steel: No submissions, Caelan! What the hell is Heat trying to do?

Caelan Tyler: Knock Dashery out so that a top rope maneuver will easily get the pinfall?

Jake Steel: ...Good point, actually...

Dashery seems to be fading fast, but there is nothing the referee can do as he tries to tap out to the submission hold. Heat keeps it locked in for about a minute before finally releasing the hold and watching with satisfaction as Dashery drops to the canvas, unmoving. With a smile on his face, Heat nears the ropes, his back to Ethan as he crouches for a leap. After a quick glance behind him, Heat leaps up onto the top rope and flies backward, an Asai Moonsault the attempted maneuver...but Dashery has enough wherewithal to roll out of the way, causing Heat to impact the mat quite heavily!

Caelan Tyler: Heat went for Flame Broiled there, but perhaps took a bit too long as Ethan gets out of the way!

Jake Steel: With a weak-sounding name like that, it's probably a good thing!

Once again, both men are left unmoving as the ref shrugs before forcing the issue with a ten-count. Heat is slowly crawling towards the ropes, using them for leverage while Dashery remains unmoving. As the ref reaches the count of six, though, Heat finally gets onto his feet and stumbles in towards Ethan...who was playing possum the whole time and surprises Kevin with a kip-up rana. Kevin's look is one of bewilderment as he scrambles to get back up--only to be sent out of the ring once again by a textbook dropkick from Dashery. Now Heat looks rather livid as he gets to his feet--and is immediately dropped again as Ethan comes out of the ring with a Nuclear Warhead Tope that is right on the money!

Caelan Tyler: Did you see the height he got on that move?

Jake Steel: Okay, it was a bit impressive, I'll give him that.

Slowly, Ethan gets back to his feet and throws Kevin back into the ring before climbing onto the apron himself. A moment later, Dashery leaps to the center of the top rope and flies off with a diving headbutt that connects solidly on Heat. Scrambling, Ethan drops into a cover as the ref slides in:

1...

2...

3--no, Heat is again able to get a shoulder up to stop the count. Frustrated, Dashery gets to his feet, shouting that it's time to end the match as he moves a few feet away, measuring Heat up for something or another. Kevin gets to his feet very slowly and more than a little wobbly, as Dashery comes in, looking for a superkick. Heat ducks under it and lashes out his back foot in a superkick of his own...and both men connect at the same time, as Dashery makes contact with Kevin's face, while Heat connected with Ethan's chest. Both men fall to the mat as an 'N-L-Dub' breaks out in the arena.

Jake Steel: Damn...

Caelan Tyler: Heat connects with Heartburn at the same time Dashery hits the Shadow Kick...who's going to get control of the match back?

Once more, the ref is forced to utilize a ten-count, as both men are motionless on the mat. At the count of five, both Heat and Dashery begin to stir, and Heat's made it up to one knee at the count of seven. Using the ropes for leverage, Kevin gets to his feet at nine, breaking the count and forcing the match to continue. He is unable to immediately capitalize, however, needing a couple of additional seconds to clear his head before finally closing in on Dashery. Those few seconds come back to haunt him, however, as an attempted right hand is blocked by the debutante, and Heat becomes the recipient of a punch. A second follows from Dashery, but Heat puts a quick stop to that with a knee to the gut, and a rising knee lift to the face to stagger Ethan back against the ropes. Heat follows him in and sends Dashery away with an Irish whip, a spinning heel kick the result on the rebound as it catches Ethan flush in the face. Like a stone, Ethan drops to the mat, as Heat comes off the side ropes again and drops a leg across the throat of Dashery to tack on some additional punishment.

Caelan Tyler: Now Heat seems to want to beat Dashery into unconsciousness.

Jake Steel: Did you just say ABUSE?

Caelan Tyler: No.

Jake Steel: Damn it all to hell...

Sensing he is in control of the match now, Heat pulls a rising Dashery to his feet before hitting a scoop slam to leave the rookie on the mat. Heading to the outside, Heat ascends the ropes, looking to end the match here as he leaps off...and connects a moment later with a textbook frog splash! Heat holds the cover as the ref slides in:

1...

2...

3--no, this time it's Dashery who gets a shoulder up at the last moment! Getting to his feet, Heat looks over at the ref and can clearly be seen saying, 'Are you sure that was only a two?' The ref begins to explain it again when Heat gets pulled down from behind by Dashery in a school boy roll-up...

1...

2...

3?!

Caelan Tyler: What the hell just happened?

The ref immediately calls for the bell, raises Dashery's hand in victory, and quickly leaves the ringside area as Ethan laughs to himself in the ring.

Zach King: Here is your winner...Ethan Dashery?

Jake Steel: Wait a minute, Cael. Not only did Dashery NOT hit a top rope move, but the ref fast-counted Heat out as well. Did I see that right?

Caelan Tyler: Yes, Jake. That's exactly what you saw.

Jake Steel: I'm speechless...

The referee looks a bit disgusted with himself as Kevin Heat stares him down.

Caelan Tyler: Well we're out of time folks, see you next Uprising!
