UPRISING 050 LIVE FROM SEATTLE, WASHINGTON!

'Game On' by Discipline begins to play as the words 'NLW' flash across the screen, and the scene flashes back to last Uprising, where Trent Steel defeated Jack Glowson, Xander Gates defeated Anthony Reynolds, Greg Jackson defeated... err, lost to... claimed the OWF LillyAss championship from Drake Munday, and in the main event Specter defeated The Ice Man and Casanova to win the vacant Anarchy X championship! The scene cuts to ringside, with Caelan Tyler and 'The Real Deal' Jake Steel.

Caelan Tyler: Hello, I'm Caelan Tyler, and we all know what time it is!

Jake Steel: Time for you to introduce me?

Caelan Tyler: No, time for Uprising!

Jake Steel: ...But, if you don't introduce me, then how will the fans know it's me?

Caelan Tyler: I'm pretty sure they've figured it out by now.

Jake Steel: One never knows!

Caelan Tyler: ...Whatever. Looks like no time is being wasted tonight though, as our first match is ready to get underway!

JACK GLOWSON VERSUS JC
SUBMISSION MATCH

Jake Steel: And my name is Jake Steel, since this douchebag won't introduce me!

Caelan Tyler: *Sighs*

'Rockit' by Herbie Hancock plays and Jack Glowson comes on to the stage dancing, as he always does. He does the robot, then begins a long shimmy down the ramp when suddenly he's struck from behind by JC, who, with his unkempt hair and beard looks feral.

Caelan Tyler: What did he do that for?

Jake Steel: He probably agrees that Glowson can't dance.

JC nails Glowson in the face with a forearm and throws him back first into the ring apron. He then rolls him into the ring and pulls a chair out from underneath it. The referee slides out to try and stop him, but JC grabs him and tosses him into the barricade, head-first.

Caelan Tyler: JC's lost it here!

Jake Steel: Something tells me we're not going to get a match.

Caelan Tyler: Really, what gave you that idea?

Jake Steel: Well, the fact we don't have a referee, Cael. Get on the ball.

Glowson gets up quickly and tries to intercept JC by grabbing his hair, but JC slams the chair behind him catching Glowson in the skull. Blood immediately begins pouring out of his head as he falls backwards to the mat. JC climbs in and brushes his hair out of his eyes. The crowd doesn't know how to react so they stay silent.

Caelan Tyler: What's JC have planned here?

Jake Steel: I'm hoping more ABUSE!

Glowson struggles to pull himself up on the ropes, and JC pulls the chair back for another swing, connecting with the side of Glowson's kneecap. Glowson crumbles to the mat in a heap holding his leg. JC tosses the chair out of the ring and motions for a camera man to get in close.

JC: THIS IS YOU, DRACO!

JC grabs the leg of Glowson and locks on 'The Beginning of the End', a modified half-crab. Glowson screams out in pain and grabbing wildly at the ropes to try and pull himself out, but JC sits back on the hold.

Caelan Tyler: Someone has to stop this!

Jake Steel: Why? This is great!

Caelan Tyler: You're sick.

Glowson, either from blood loss or pain, starts to slowly drift away and he passes out, but JC won't let go. Referees and officials begin pouring out of the backstage area and try to pry him off, but he still won't. The fans begin booing again, and even chanting 'Draco'. Suddenly, their chants are answered as the NLW Champion races down to the ring.

Jake Steel: What is that idiot doing here?

Caelan Tyler: He's going to teach JC a lesson!

Draco slides in the ring and JC lets go to meet him. Draco nails the bigger man with rights and lefts, but JC gets a kneelift to the abdomen. Draco doubles over, and JC whips him into the turnbuckle. JC then backs up, slaps his leg and charges. He tries for the Big Boot of Death, but Draco moves. JC turns around and Draco then hits a kick of his own, the Momentum Shift! JC falls to the mat and holds his jaw. JC then rolls out of the ring.

He staggers towards the ramp, not taking his eyes off Draco, who is standing in the ring making 'goodbye' motions.

Caelan Tyler: Draco seems to have JC's number. You think JC is regretting putting his career on the line?

Jake Steel: I doubt it, did you see what he did to Jack Glowson?

Caelan Tyler: Yeah, but Glowson isn't the NLW Champion. And neither is JC.

Jake Steel: For now, Cael. He'll get it back now that he's in his element.

SIMPLE REQUEST

Caelan Tyler: Well in either case, Draco's heading backstage to get ready for his own match. It's coming up quick, and he might even get a chance to get his hands on Xander Gates.

Jake Steel: Not that it'll matter, Xander's going to break him in half.

The camera fades to Jack Sullivan's office where he is sitting, feet kicked up on his desk, while watching a small monitor across from him. He seems to be thinking about something but not too hard - that is quickly interrupted as the door to his office swings open. No knock, no warning, just in walks Vincent Kane - he also looks calm and collected. He is still wearing his street clothes, he doesn't even look like he is thinking about his upcoming match. Jack doesn't move from his position, his only acknowledgment of Kane is a slight nod of his head.

Vincent Kane: You don't have to say anything, I'll be brief.

Sullivan's gaze doesn't leave the TV.

Vincent Kane: Very well.

Vincent places both his hands on the top of the chair that is sitting at the other side of Sullivan's desk. He doesn't lean too deep in, but he is supporting his weight on the chair.

Vincent Kane: A rematch with Crazy Chris is in order. Whether it is for the title or not makes no difference to me. Give me a title shot again and I'll give you a show, whatever you want. In the end, I don't care. I just want another shot at this guy.

Kane pauses for a moment, drops his head, and takes a long, deep breath.

Vincent Kane: I don't lose to wrestlers of his caliber. We both know this. We both know I'm better than he could ever dream to be and it was a fluke. I'm not going to walk around the halls being talked about as the 'guy who lost to Crazy Chris.' He's a clown, Jack. Period. We've known each other a long fuckin' time, and sure - things haven't been the best. But dick me on this.

Vincent lifts his head, Jack hasn't even looked over at him. The long, drawn out history between the two is clear simply from everything that isn't said.

Vincent Kane: Give me the match or I walk. We both know I don't have any problems breaching a contract.

Jack laughs and shakes his head, he finally breaks his silence.

Jack Sullivan: Don't try and strong arm me, Kane.

Vincent Kane: I'm not strong arming anyone. I'm telling you how it is.

Jack Sullivan: You think you aren't replaceable? You've 'dicked' me more times than I can count, you're unreliable, and let's face it - you aren't getting any younger. You don't get to tell me how things go around here, I tell you how things go. Understand?

Kane shoots his glare to the other side of the room, shaking his head.

Vincent Kane: Give me the rematch.

Sullivan gives an sarcastic chuckle to himself, it's clear the conversation is over. Clearly annoyed, Kane forcefully knocks the chair he was leaning on over and storms out of the room - he slams the door behind him - leaving Jack Sullivan, feet still up, gaze still on the TV, to himself.

Caelan Tyler: Looks like Kane's looking for a rematch.

Jake Steel: He should get it.

Caelan Tyler: Why's that?

XANDER GATES, KEVIN HEAT & VINCENT KANE VERSUS DRACO, GREG JACKSON & ANTHONY REYNOLDS
SIX MAN TAG

Jake Steel: He's Vincent Kane! Why shouldn't he get a rematch?

Zach King: Our next contest is a six-man tag team match scheduled for one fall!

'A Good Day to Die' hits, and Xander Gates emerges at the top of the ramp, taking in the jeers of the Seattle crowd. He can barely get three steps down the ramp, though, before karma comes back to bite him in the form of Draco blasting him in the back of the head with the NLW Championship. Gates rolls the rest of the way down the ramp and is immediately set upon by Draco, who rains down right hands from above on the thorn in his side in recent weeks. His tunnel-vision costs him, though, as he is tackled by an incoming Kevin Heat, with Vincent Kane right behind him. The two newcomers start to double-team Draco in order to allow Xander time to recover, but this advantage is short lived as both Greg Jackson and Anthony Reynolds come from backstage to even the numbers game.

Caelan Tyler: So much for an orderly start to this match!

Jake Steel: Cael, did you seriously expect these six guys to be civil? You forget that Greg Jackson is in this group, civility was chucked down the Aggro Crag when he walked in!

Caelan Tyler: ...Where did you pull that unusual reference come from?

Jake Steel: Someone's gotta remind him of his failures!

By this point, both Draco and Gates have recovered and have joined in the fracas that has finally spilled into the ringside area. In one corner, Greg Jackson and Kevin Heat are paired off, exchanging right hands in the vicinity of the timekeeper's table. On the opposite side of the ring, Draco and Vincent Kane are brawling and appear to be moments away from having that fight spill over into the crowd. At the end of the ramp, Xander Gates has the advantage over Anthony Reynolds, and the veteran rolls Reynolds into the ring, prompting the ref to call for the bell to get the match underway. However, the bell is rung in rather unorthodox fashion, as Heat drives a knee into the gut of Jackson and then slams his head into the bell. At the same time, Draco is sent into the steel steps by Kane, dislodging the top steps on the impact.

Back inside the ring, Xander sets up Gates for an Irish whip, but watches as Reynolds jumps to the middle rope and springs back, looking for a spinning heel kick. Xander is able to duck to avoid the impact. Reynolds lands, but is able to absorb most of the impact from the miss as he tucks into a roll and springs back to his feet. A moment later, he gets tagged by the right arm of Xander Gates, who plows through the youngster with a hard clothesline. Quick cover by Gates...

1...

2...

Two is all he gets, as Reynolds pops a shoulder off the mat. A quick glance at the corner shows Draco finally climbing into position, with Greg Jackson still looking a bit woozy on the outside near the dislodged steps.

Caelan Tyler: Reynolds has to be careful here, Jake...neither of his teammates have fully recovered from the parting shots given to them by their opponents, and the wily veteran Gates will be ready to take advantage of any opportunity he gets.

Jake Steel: All I can say is please, drag this match on. The longer we have until the farce of a main event tonight, the longer I can pray that Phoenix gets forcibly kidnapped or...I don't know, have a heart attack or something.

Caelan Tyler: Jake, is that really necessary?

Jake Steel: You have to ask?

Caelan Tyler: I should've known....

Keeping control of Reynolds, Xander cuts the ring off from his younger opponent and tags in Vincent Kane, figuring Reynolds to be the weak line of the opposing team. Kane enters the ring and promptly delivers a thrust kick to the gut of Reynolds, looking to knock the wind out of the youngster. A quick side belly-to-belly suplex follows this, and Kane holds on for the cover:

1...

2...

Two and a half, as Reynolds manages to get a shoulder up! Measuring up his opponent, Kane watches as Reynolds struggles to sit up before charging in, looking for a hard kick to the chest. Whether it's through skill or plain luck, Reynolds avoids the kick and reaches up to trap Kane in a school boy roll-up:

1...

Not even a two, as Kane easily gets free. Before Reynolds can think about going for a tag, he finds his leg grabbed, as Kane reaches back for a tag that Kevin Heat accepts.

Caelan Tyler: Not sure this is a smart idea by the aggressors here, Jake. If Heat picks up the tempo of the match, he could be playing right into the strengths of Anthony Reynolds.

Jake Steel: Cael, it's 'Nuklear' Heat we're talking about. What can go wrong?

Heat is quick to leap to the top rope and drop an elbow on the small of Reynolds' back as Kane breaks his hold on the youngster before the ref reaches a count of five. Looking to keep his opponent off-balance, Heat sprints to the opposite of the ring--well out of the reach of Draco, mind--and comes back with a basement dropkick that catches Reynolds in the forehead. Another cover, this time by Heat:

1...

2...

Two and a half again, as Reynolds gets a shoulder up once more. Looking over at his corner, he reaches out and makes the tag to Kane, who comes in and secures a rear waistlock on Reynolds. A moment later, Heat lashes out and connects with his Heartburn superkick; as that connects Kane uses the momentum to send Reynolds over in a German suplex, which he holds onto for the pin attempt:

1...

2...

Thr--no, Draco comes in with a kick to the ribs to break the cover!

Jake Steel: Ref, get him out of there, that's illegal!

Caelan Tyler: But Kane and Heat were just double-teaming Reynolds, and that's even more illegal!

Jake Steel: So? They had 'til five.

The ref turns to shoo Draco out of the ring, allowing Kane and Heat to make an illegal switch, complete with fake 'tag' sounds. As the ref turns around to see Heat in the ring, the ref storms over to ask Kane what the deal is. VK claims innocence, and even says 'you heard the tag, though.' After a few seconds, the ref can only shake his head in exasperation as he turns back to the action in the ring. Heat has pulled Reynolds up to his feet and looks to be setting him up for an Irish whip to the neutral corner. A moment later, Heat does precisely that as Reynolds impacts the turnbuckles. With a confident smirk, Heat looks ready to put Reynolds away as he charges in, looking perhaps for a leaping corner clothesline that would put Heat in great position for getting onto the top rope for some other flippy-type move.

He didn't expect Reynolds to tuck into a roll and come to his feet, lunging for his corner as Heat crashed in the corner. A moment later, the tag is to Greg Jackson...and Draco?!

Jake Steel: How the hell does this work?

Caelan Tyler: Referee's discretion, I think, but it looked to me that Reynolds tagged them both at the same time!

Jake Steel: Talk about unfair!

Both of the faces turn to look at each other for a moment before shrugging their shoulders and both entering the ring. Jackson makes a beeline for Kevin Heat while Draco rushes the corner where Gates is standing. Xander wants no part of Draco, though, and drops to the apron while Vincent Kane is left to deal with the wrath of Draco. The referee is trying to get either Jackson or Draco out of the ring, while through the magic of split-screen instant replay we can see that Reynolds did, in fact, make a simultaneous tag to both of his partners. With the one team having two apparent 'legal' men in the ring, the ref throws his arms in the air as if to say 'I give up.' By now, Draco has Kane slumped in the corner, and watches as Jackson whips Heat towards the same corner. The NLW Champion is quick to get out of the way, allowing Heat to run headlong into Kane, while Jackson motions for Draco to drop down. There is a look on Draco's face that says 'why are you ordering me around?' before he finally drops to all fours. Greg takes advantage of this by running forward, using Draco's back as a platform to leap into the air and catch both Kane and Heat with a body splash. Heat tumbles to the outside, near Xander Gates while Jackson grabs Kane and drills him with a step-up enzuigiri. Cover by Jackson:

1...

2...

Two-and-a-half only as Gates reaches in to pull Jackson out of the ring to break the count!

Caelan Tyler: Gates seemingly wants no part of Draco, which I find surprising given that Gates has left Draco lying the last few times they've been in the same place.

Jake Steel: Xander's picking his spots, Cael. He's going to strike when he thinks it's right, not when Draco's expecting it!

With all three heels outside the ring, Draco seems to think it's time to take to the skies and inflict some damage. He's not expecting Reynolds to sprint past him, leap to the top strand in one jump, and come with a beautiful corkscrew plancha that takes out all three heels and Greg Jackson at the same time! There is a pile of bodies on the floor, and Draco finally exits the ring to grab hold of Xander Gates, much to the delight of the Seattle crowd, and drag him back into the ring. With everyone else taken out, Draco backs Gates into the corner and begins to hammer away with repeated punches, ignoring the official asking for a break until the official physically intervenes. This gives Gates the opportunity for a free poke in the eyes, hampering Draco's vision. As the official finally stops creating space between the two, Gates sprints forward and drives Draco to the mat with a bulldog takedown. Cover by Gates, who has the far leg hooked:

1...

2...

That's all, as Draco gets a shoulder up. Not wanting to relent so quickly, Gates kicks Draco hard in the ribs, forcing the NLW Champion to roll onto his stomach and in position for Xander to lock in the STF near the face corner.

Jake Steel: I was hoping to avoid these technical holds as long as I could.

Caelan Tyler: It's still smart strategy by Gates here, but the problem is that Draco simply refuses to tap out. Remember, this is the same Draco who was choked into unconsciousness instead of tapping out.

Jake Steel: Key word is 'choked,' Caelan. You'd pass out too if you were being choked!

Caelan Tyler: And how is that any different from Gates' Final Deception?

Jake Steel: It uses his legs!

Caelan Tyler: ...That's not what I meant...

After a few seconds of this hold, Draco takes the easy way out and reaches up to rake the eyes to break the hold. As gates rolls off to regain his sight, Draco wastes no time in getting to his feet and launching himself at Xander, connecting with his trademark Sick Kick! Before he can go for a cover, though, Kane gets back into the match and applies a heel hook, trying to dislocate the ankle of his opponent. Draco stifles back a cry of pain as he looks to get to the ropes, but finding no way to get there as the hold has Draco near the center of the ring. Kane tries to wrench back on the hold, but finds his progress topped soon after as Greg Jackson leaps off the top rope with a knee drop to the forehead of Vincent Kane! It takes Draco a moment to get into the lateral press:

1...

2...

Broken up by Kevin Heat this time, but only momentarily as Anthony Reynolds comes in and takes Heat over the top rope with a clothesline.

Caelan Tyler: The ref has really let this one get out of control!

Jake Steel: What do you expect when you pull any random bum off the street and tell him to stop these six guys?

Caelan Tyler: Point taken....

As Draco and Gates recover on opposite sides of the ring, Greg Jackson pulls Vincent Kane up to his feet and quickly slams him to the mat, heading to the apron for some aerial offense to possibly set Kane up for the Blackjack. As he gets ready to leap, though, Heat grabs an ankle and pulls Jackson to the floor as Jackson's jaw slams into the apron. Heat's measure is only a brief reprieve, though, as Draco sees the situation in the ring and stumbles over to Kane, grabbing the legs. A few moments later, he has the deathlock applied, and bridges back to grab the chin of Kane, locking in When All Else Fails! Reynolds is keeping Heat at bay, but Jackson is in no condition to do likewise to Xander as he pulls a steel chair over the barrier and slides in the ring, seeing the perfect target presented before him. A moment later, he brings the steel chair down with full force, driving it into the ribs and midsection of Draco and prompting the ref to call for the bell as the impact forces Draco to break the hold.

Zach King: Here are your winners, by way of a disqualification... DRACO, GREG JACKSON, AND ANTHONY REYNOLDS!

Gates then smashes the chair over Draco's head before bailing out of the ring as Reynolds and Jackson enter to try to stop him, grinning as the crowd boos him.

Jake Steel: See, like I told you, Xander Gates picked his spot.

Caelan Tyler: But it cost his team the match!

BRINGING THE RUCKUS

Jake Steel: So? He got his shot in on Draco, and that's all that matters to him.

Calean Tyler: Somehow I doubt his teammates agree, but with that being said, we need to show you some footage from before the show started. Even though it wasn't announced Ice Man was going to perform tonight. We were going to have an added match with Ice Man featured, but unfortunately that will not happened tonight because of the despicable acts of Lorenzo Demarco. We will now show you what happened earlier today as Ice Man was having an impromptu autograph session with some children outside the arena. Lets now go and take a look...

The caption earlier today flashes as Ice Man is out in the parking lot signing some autographs for a group of children. The kids are clearly ecstatic for this meeting and Ice Man seems to have a smile himself as he's giving some young fans some impromptu entertainment.

The Ice Man: How you doing? Who am I going to make this autograph out to?

Little Boy: Please make it out to Andrew.

Ice Man begins to sign his T-Shirt and hands it to him. The kid is ecstatic. Another kid comes up and with a foam finger he wants signs. Ice Man begins to sign it.

Little Boy: Please make it out to your biggest fan... BEHIND YOU ICE MAN!

Ice Man is caught off guard by this warning but it's too late as he's spun around and begins screaming as a black hand with a can of mace begins spraying into his eyes. Ice Man begins screaming as he grabs his face and hunches over. Despite being hunched over the black hand angles it so he can continue spraying the mace into his face. The entire bottle is emptied as Ice Man falls to his knees and the camera pans out to show Lorenzo Demarco. the children in the area are screaming, One can be seen running in the background yelling 'HELP HELP HELP!'. Another kid actually gets in between Demarco and Ice Man.

Little Boy: YOU'RE A BAD MAN!

The kid charges to kick Demarco in the shin but Demarco lowers a hand places it on the kid's head and violently pushes him on the ground. Ice Man trying to protect himself although blinded begins to wildly swing in all directions. Demarco reaches behind him and pulls a crow bar he had tucked in his jeans. He nails Ice Man in the stomach with it hunching him over. he then hits him in the back of the neck with it knocking him to the ground. Several more kids run screaming as another kid actually dives on top of Ice Man.

Lorenzo Demarco: MOVE YOU LITTLE SHIT! YOU BETTER MOVE! YOU BETTER MOVE YOU LITTLE SHIT!

Demarco raises the crowbar and indeed brings it down. The kid panics and rolls out of the way as the crowbar comes down on Ice Man's black. Demarco takes turns kicking Demarco and whipping him with the crow bar. He bends down on one knee and drops the crow bar.

Lorenzo Demarco: You want to pull legal bullshit on me? YOU WANT TO FUCK WITH ME! YOU WANT TO FUCK WITH ME!

Lorenzo Demarco grabs Ice Man's head lifts it up and smashes his forehead into the pavement. He grabs it again and does it again.

Lorenzo Demarco: YOU AIN'T NOTHING BUT A BITCH! AIN'T NOTHING BUT A BITCH YOU HEAR ME YOU OVER SIZED RIDDLED WITH STEROIDS FAGGOT!

Demarco gets up with an evil grin on his face. He walks behind Ice Man and then proceeds to grabs his arms and pull them behind him. He begins to lift Ice Man's body off the ground before putting a foot on the back of his head and curb stomping him into the pavement! Blood is oozing from Under Ice Man's head as Demarco is obviously not done yet. He can hear kids screaming in the background and he turns around to see a few kids pointing and screaming as arena security charges toward the scene. Demarco looks down and quickly spits on Ice Man's body before running off. One security guard continues chase as the other stops to check on Ice Man.

Jake Steel: Everyone's just jumping everyone tonight! I'm loving this!

Caelan Tyler: What? That was a disgrace!

THE PHOENIX VERSUS DANGEROUS DAN
LEGACY CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Jake Steel: You would say that!

Caelan Tyler: What would you call it?

Jake Steel: Justified retaliation.

Zach King: The following contest is our main event of the evening, and is for the NLW Legacy Championship! This match will be conducted under Legacy Rules!

All of the lights in the arena go dark as the opening four chords to 'The Instinct' hit. There is a mixed reaction from the crowd, with a slight edge towards the jeers that becomes more noticeable as the music changes to Metallica's 'The Unforgiven.' Emerging from the back, he walks to the ring, not paying any of the fans at ringside any attention whatsoever as he slides in under the bottom rope, heading directly for the far corner and turning to face the entryway, his face a clear mask of focus as the song fades after the first refrain.

Zach King: Introducing first, the challenger... From The End of Nowhere... Weighing 337 pounds... THE PHOENIX!

Caelan Tyler: I'm still not sure what's prompted Phoenix to go down the path he's on now, Jake. I mean, sure the man's having personal issues, but that's never stopped him before.

Jake Steel: I'd guess a bad batch of Twinkies. Either that or he finally decided to grow a pair.

Dan comes out from behind the curtain and takes center stage as 'The Catalyst' starts to play. He poses to the fans and then a blast of purple and blue pyro explodes from the stage. Dan makes his way down the ramp and interacts with the fans. He runs up the steps and steps through the rope. He runs to the other side and jumps up on the turnbuckle where he poses for the fans. He does this on each turnbuckle, before doing a backflip to the center of the ring where he prepares to meet his opponent.

Zach King: And his opponent... From Smithville, Tennessee... Weighing in at 225 pounds... He is the Legacy Champion... DANGEROUS DAN!

Caelan Tyler: This could be considered a 'dream' Legacy match-up, as the longest Legacy titleholder defends against the man whose record he broke.

Jake Steel: Or it could be boring as hell, we all fall asleep halfway through, and Jack Sullivan finally does the right thing and gets rid of this mockery of a title.

After displaying the Legacy title for the attending crowd, to ensure that everyone watching knows what is at stake, the ref calls for the bell to get the match underway. Dan comes out of his corner, showing the speed advantage he has over the big man as he forces Phoenix to spin quickly to keep his back away from the champion. It's in vain, though, as Dan feigns a tie-up to get to the backside of the challenger, driving a forearm into the neck of Phoenix before backing out of range. Phoenix turns, the camera clearly seeing him ask 'Really?' to Dan before the two lock up again. Once again, Dan uses his smaller frame to slip around the back and try to kick at the knee to take Phoenix down, only for the challenger to snap mare Dan to the mat. Dan scrambles away, warily looking at his opponent as Phoenix stands unmoving in the center of the ring.

Caelan Tyler: Dan's trying to play a keep-away style of offense, but against a man with Phoenix's size and experience I'm not sure that's the best plan of attack.

Jake Steel: He'd be better off trying to tire Phoenix out and make him head to the buffet.

Dan again approaches, looking a bit more wary as he nears the challenger. This time, there is a tie-up, albeit a brief one before Dan fires off a European uppercut that surprises Phoenix. A second one knocks Phoenix back a step, and Dan quickly goes to the ropes, ducking a Phoenix clothesline on the rebound and going to the knees with a dropkick to knock the big man down. Quick cover by Dan here:

1...

That's it, as Phoenix powers out of the attempt. Before the challenger can get up, Dan is quick to lock in an armbar on Phoenix's right arm, looking to at least reduce the offensive capability of the challenger. The ref comes in to ask if Phoenix wants to give it up and is told in no uncertain terms to go away. This prompts Phoenix to make his way to his feet, as Dan switches to the head in order to try to control the movement of the challenger. Phoenix shoves his opponent into the far side ropes, following Dan in. The champ leaps onto the middle strand and comes back looking for a springboard back elbow, but Phoenix is ready for this and ducks underneath the attempt. Dan lands and tucks into a back roll, getting to his feet in time to get turned inside out by a clothesline from the challenger.

Jake Steel: Oh, great, now the part where we get sent to sleep.

Caelan Tyler: This is more to Phoenix's strengths--slow the tempo down and work over a part of the body. The question now is which part--the ankle for the Blaze of Glory, or the back for Eternal Requiem?

Jake Steel: No, the question is 'who really cares?'

No reaction crosses the face of the challenger as he pulls Dan into a seated position and yanks back on the chin, driving a knee into the middle of the champion's back as he does so. Dan looks to get out of the hold, and realizes that from his position, there's no chance of a rope break giving him a pass. Gritting his teeth, he starts to rock his body a little, looking to build momentum to get to his feet, finally doing so after getting Phoenix's fingers pried apart to break the chinlock. Nonplussed, Phoenix moves back in, seeking to continue his methodical pace, but Dan is having none of it as a swift kick to the gut stops Phoenix in his tracks. Dan heads for the near-side ropes, coming back with a flip over neckbreaker, sending the challenger down. Cover by the champion:

1...

2...and just barely that as Phoenix gets the right shoulder up. Knowing that his best chance of winning is to keep the tempo to a pace that Phoenix can't match, Dan once more heads to the ropes, springing off of them to hit a moonsault, but he doesn't catch all of it as Phoenix rolls to avoid the brunt of the impact. Despite this, Dan looks for another cover:

1...

2...and that's all as Phoenix pops the shoulder up.

Caelan Tyler: Smart strategy by Phoenix, no matter what you think of him--he was close enough to grab the ropes to force the break but instead kicked out.

Jake Steel: I'm shocked, honestly. I thought he'd burn through the Wuss Rule in a hurry because, you know, he sucks.

Dan is quick to get to his feet and head to the turnbuckles, looking to fly as Phoenix starts to get up. A few moments later, Dan judges the time to be right as he comes off the top, looking for a double axe handle...but instead falls into the waiting arms of Phoenix, who delivers a teeth-rattling spinebuster to the Legacy champion! Instead of going for a cover and forcing Dan to waste energy kicking out, Phoenix kicks Dan over onto his stomach and drapes a foot over the bottom rope before locking in a camel clutch, prompting the ref to immediately call for the break, and starting a five-count for Phoenix to break the hold. At four-and-a-half, Phoenix finally does, glaring at the ref as he does so and bellowing 'Five, ref!'

Caelan Tyler: And now we see the experience that being a former Legacy champion brings into the match. Among everyone else on the NLW roster, Phoenix has the most experience in this style of match and can plan accordingly, given that this is the fifth Legacy title match in his storied career.

Jake Steel: Cael, we get it already. Now can you stop talking about him before his ego threatens to pull the building off its foundation?

The look on Phoenix's face could be likened to a cat that has a mouse between its paws, deciding on how to torture it next. As he hauls Dan to his feet, he backs the champion into the corner and hit a forearm flush on the jaw. Stunned, Dan is helpless to stop Phoenix from letting loose a rolling belly-to-belly suplex that leaves Dan down in the center of the ring. Instead of going for a cover, Phoenix grabs the leg of Dan, looking perhaps to lock in Eternal Requiem, but Dan wants no part of that submission hold and manages to get to the ropes, using his second rope break in the process.

Caelan Tyler: I'm not sure if this single-minded focus of forcing opponents to tap out is going to come back to bite him later on, Jake. He should be going for the cover and ending the match when he can.

Jake Steel: Who was the last person who accused him of being intelligent? Oh, wait, that was you, wasn't it?

Caelan Tyler: ...

Phoenix moves closer, looking to haul Dan back to his feet, but instead gets thrown out of the ring by the waistband of his pants as Dan catches the NLW Legend coming in. Tumbling to the outside, Phoenix slams a hand against the protective mats as he stands, ready to go back in and continue pressing the attack. That's abandoned a moment later, as Dan comes flying over the top with a somersault plancha to take the challenger down as the fans jump to their feet!

The ref starts his count, with both men getting to their feet by the count of three. Phoenix takes a swing at Dan, who ducks and retaliates with a step-up enzuigiri to send the big man down. A quick basement dropkick to the face follows this, and Dan slides into the ring at the count of six, watching for Phoenix to try to get into the ring. At eight, the big man gets to his feet, and reaches towards the ropes to pull himself into the ring. Dan charges forward, sliding into an attempted head scissor takedown, but pays the price for that attempt as Phoenix counters it into an overhead flapjack.

Jake Steel: Come on, Dan, you need to stay away from the guy!

Caelan Tyler: Wait, you're actively watching the match now?

Jake Steel: Just hoping it ends as soon as possible, is all!

Caelan Tyler: Should've known.

The ref starts his count again, but it's quickly rendered moot as Phoenix all but throws Dan back into the ring and follows himself. Back within the confines of the squared circle, the challenger pulls the champ back to his feet and lifts him up effortlessly into a torture rack position, holding on to it for a few moments before dropping to his knees with the Prelude of Light. Keeping hold of the leg, Phoenix again looks to lock in Eternal Requiem, but for naught as Dan barely manages to get to the ropes before the hold can be fully applied. For the first time all match, the stoic façade of Phoenix cracks, showing a sinister smile.

Caelan Tyler: And the champion is in deep, deep trouble here. Out of rope breaks against a known submission artist.

Jake Steel: You mean choke artist, right?

Wasting little time, Phoenix again hauls Dan to his feet and hooks him up in a suplex position. A moment later, Dan is lifted high into the air, being held there as Phoenix lets the blood flow to the head of the champion, possibly for the delayed brainbuster suplex he calls the Fading Aria. However, Dan begins to kick wildly, forcing Phoenix to lose the steady base he had for the move, and Dan capitalizes by slipping back to his feet and catching Phoenix off-guard with a Dangerous Fate from out of nowhere! Both men are down--Dan from the abuse he's taken all match, and Phoenix from not having time to prepare a defense for the surprise move.

Jake Steel: Great, so a double countout. Does that mean the title is thrown into the trash and is never heard from again?

Caelan Tyler: Means a draw, Jake, and the champion retains. Good grief, haven't you learned anything over the last few years?

Jake Steel: Besides how your mom looks after I've--hey!

Jake has to scramble out of the way of a Caelan Tyler right hand, stopping the commentary for the moment. In the ring, the ref has reached a count of five, and the challenger is starting to stir. A few moments later, the champion is as well, and it's Dan who gets to his feet first. Phoenix takes a swing and misses, allowing Dan to step inside the big man's reach and deliver several decent shots to the gut that backs Phoenix into the corner. Dan steps back a few steps and runs in with a shining wizard knee to the skull of Phoenix, sending the big man down! Dan drops down into a cover, hooking the leg closest to the ropes:

1...

2...

Thr--Phoenix grabs hold of the bottom rope with his hand, forcing the break as Dan pounds the mat in frustration. Instead of getting angry, Dan runs to the opposite side of the ring, using the extra momentum to drive an elbow into the back of the challenger, halting his rise from the mat for at least a few more seconds.

Caelan Tyler: Dan needs to hit something big, and do it soon before Phoenix recovers. With all of the high-impact moves he's taken, one more could likely finish the deal.

Jake Steel: That's if Phoenix doesn't try to cripple Dan like he tried to do to Kevin Heat!

A second elbow drop follows the first, and Dan moves back a few feet, right leg shaking in anticipation as Phoenix forces his way up to his feet. The challenger turns towards where the champion is waiting, and walks right into The ENDD is Near! Phoenix crumples to the mat, seemingly out of it as Dan moves gingerly to the corner, looking to fly again. The ref, seeing this, starts to move out of the corner as Dan climbs up, looking for another successful title defense and a major feather in his cap.

What happens next almost seems like an accident. Phoenix starts to stir, and his right leg catches the foot of the official, tripping him. The ref stumbles, falling against the ropes, and that shaking is enough to cause Dan to lose his balance, crotching himself on the top rope! As Phoenix rolls onto his stomach, the briefest hint of a sneer can be seen before his face resumes its stoic gaze, as he gets to his feet and sees Dan in perfect position.

Caelan Tyler: Dan is in a world of hurt, and Phoenix doesn't seem to care...in fact, he's relishing every moment of this!

Jake Steel: Did you have to bring food into it, Cael?

Caelan Tyler: ...

With Dan in position in the corner, Phoenix doubles the Legacy champion over before lifting him onto his shoulders, walking to the middle of the ring. Phoenix lets out his traditional war cry and drops to a seated position, delivering Lacrymosa to the Legacy champion! Dan falls to the mat, not moving. Like déjà vu, Phoenix prods the form of his opponent with a boot, shaking him twice and getting no response either time. The sneer returns full force on his face as he goes to the leg, setting Dan up for the Eternal Requiem as the fans in the area start to boo loudly. Phoenix pays them no mind, though, as he gets the leg in position and easily gets the submission hold locked in. Dan is unresponsive, still out of it from Lacrymosa. The ref moves in to check on Dan, and getting no response from the champion, and Phoenix not looking to release the hold, the official turns and calls for the bell, at which time Phoenix finally drops the hold.

Zach King: Ladies and gentlemen, the referee has stopped this contest; therefore your winner, and NEW Legacy Champion... THE PHOENIX!

The official hands the belt to Phoenix, who stares at the fallen form of Dan with the title held in his upraised arm as Uprising fades to black...
