Rules and General Information | Jack Sullivan | 01.01.2008
1. Insults, harassment and racial slurs will not be tolerated on the Out of Character boards. A vast majority of us are mature individuals and this shouldn’t be a problem, but if it is reported to me that such activity is taking place and upon review I agree a warning will be given. If it happens after the warning you will be removed from the fed. No exceptions. This is a game and I want to make sure people are enjoying it.2. Uprising will be run every other Sunday and will be a fully-written out show. There will be a ten day window (from Sunday immediately after the Uprising card is posted to the following Wednesday at Midnight Central Standard Time) for a competitor to post two RPs (3 if the match in question is a title match). Only one RP is allowed to be posted per day.
3. There will be no line limit to RPs, but this comes with the warning that I very much emphasize quality over quantity. If an RP is too short it runs the risk of hindering itself and if it runs too long it likewise runs the risk of hindering itself. You want to try to find a balance where you can tell your story without dragging it out.
4. You are required to mention your opponent(s) in your RPs. Failure to do so will result in your RP not counting. There will be no exceptions to this, and if writing in a manner that facilitates you being able to do this is difficult for you then please feel free to email/IM me and I’d be more than happy to give suggestions.
5. RPs are to be posted on the main site in the “Roleplays” section. RPs posted on the Out of Character board will not count unless the “Roleplays” section is down. Once your application is accepted access to post on the “Roleplays” section will be granted to the applicant.
6. The application must be filled out in full to be considered for acceptance. Failure to do so will lead in the application immediately being rejected until the application is submitted completed. I also reserve the right to deny any application if I don’t feel the application or sample RP included with the application meets my personal standards.
7. I plan on being very proactive about RP grading. There isn’t a set point scale, but the following items will be looked for:
Interest: Do you keep my interest throughout?
Story: Do the events of the RP make sense?
Spelling and Grammar: Did you spell check? Are you using words correctly?
Relevance: Does what occurs in the RP mesh with the character and what we know of them?
If I notice that a competitor is struggling in one or more of these categories I will contact them to see what advice I can give to help them out. This is a game, and games aren’t as fun if you don’t win, so I plan on making sure everyone involved has the tools they need to have a chance to win.
8. Segments are due the day before the card is posted. I do expect the segment to be coded with HTML, the format for which can be found here.
9. If you fail to RP for two cards in a row without notifying me ahead of time that you’re unable to RP you will be dropped from the roster and you will have a sixty day period where any applications submitted by you will be denied.
10. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. If I find that a RP that was posted by a competitor was either stolen or was a RP that was used by that person in the past that person will be immediately removed from the roster. There will be no exceptions.
11. Joint RPs will only be allowed in the case of tag matches (in which the best RPer overall wins for their team). If a joint RP is posted for a singles match it will only count for the person posting it.
12. No begging for title matches. Title matches will be determined by NLW management with some input being allowed from the current champion. Overall record will not play a part in contendership, although recent matches will be used to help determine whether or not a title match is deserved. If you feel you deserve a title match you can lobby to the current champion about it, and if they feel you are deserving of such a match the champion can bring it to the attention of management. If you continuously pester the champion about it, however, they can send logs of it to management and if it is determined to be harassment you will be warned as if you had broken rule #1.
13. Last, and most importantly, enjoy yourself! This is a game and I’m more than willing to listen to suggestions and recommendations on what I can do to enhance everyone’s enjoyment.
