The Ice Man The Ice Man Arrested
The Ice Man
NLW Roleplays #682
Date: 12/20/2009
Intended Show: Uprising #36

The Ice Man sits at a small metal
table across from a man in
a suit. Behind the man is a large mirror. It's a pretty
standard interrogation room. Ice flips off the mirror, as
the man across from him begins to talk.

FBI Agent: Look, I'm getting tired of
this bullshit. We've got mounds of evidence against you, and
there is absolutely no way you can get out of the assault
charge.

Ice: What assault charge?

FBI Agent: The one we caught on tape
involving the real estate agent that you needlessly kicked.
However, we can let that one slide if you stop dicking
around tell us what we want to know.

Ice: I told you what you want to know,
you just refuse to believe that I am telling you the truth.

FBI Agent: Well then let's take it
from the top, one more time; where in the hell did you go
last year?

Ice: Like I said before, after the NLW
closed its doors I spent a bit of time over at
GCWA.

FBI Agent: Alright, so far so good. We
already knew that, and have confirmed that information.
Where did you go after that?

Ice: I had to get out, I had to get
away. I packed up what I needed to take and caught the first
flight I could to London. I didn't say goodbye to anybody
and I didn't leave any forwarding address.

FBI Agent: And why is that?

Ice: Because I was hurting people.
Anytime I came back to my career somebody I cared about got
hurt. I had to leave to keep everybody I cared about safe
from me, my career and all the baggage that comes with that.
You want some proof of that? Talk to your agent, Rachael
Anderson. She knows firsthand how the people around me get
hurt. Or does her broken arm last year not count?

FBI Agent: We'll get back to that but
first we have some more questions. See, we had heard you
went to London. Despite all of your efforts to disappear
your friends were actually able to track you down, however
when they arrived it seems as though you were nowhere to be
found.

Ice: I know, I heard they were coming,
so once again I packed up my shit and caught the first
flight I could get on.

FBI Agent: And where exactly did you
fly to?

Jay Sloan wouldn't have been considered the best detective
in the world by anybody's standards, but after receiving the
phone call from The Phoenix he did everything he could to
get back to London and try and pick up the trail that had
gone cold months earlier. It seemed as though the gods had
smiled upon him this time, because after days of digging and
several flights he now found himself landing at the airport
in San Juan on Ambergris Caye, Belize. As he stepped off the
plane he pulled the paper out of his pocket and re-read the
address. Quickly he found a taxi and within seconds he was
on his way. 5 minutes later he stood before a small house,
reading the sign on the door; 'On My Boat.' Frustrated Jay
turned away from the house and looked out toward the
Caribbean. Somewhere out there he would find what he came
for, unfortunately he had no idea where, or how he was going
to get there. As he contemplated sitting in front of the
door until Ice returned a little old man stepped out of the
house next door.

Old Man: You looking for Ice?

Jay: Yes, do you know him? I really
need to find him.

Old Man: That depends, you a friend?

Jay: Yes I am. My name is Jay Sloan; I
used to help Ice.

Old Man: You seem like a trustworthy
man, follow me.

The old man quickly walked across the street towards a
raggedy old dock. With surprising dexterity for a man of his
age the old man hopped onto a small boat and then turned to
help Jay across. After they were both on board Jay took a
seat and the old man started up the motor and untied the
boat from the dock. For thirty minutes they rode together in
silence, the old man guiding the boat while Jay found
himself amazed by the Caribbean, which he never thought he
would see. In fact Jay was so distracted by the water and
everything around him he nearly missed the small group of
boats that they were approaching. Moments later they had
pulled up next to a lager boat and the old man tied the rope
to it. They sat in silence for a few moments before The Ice
Man emerged from the cabin. The smile on his face faded when
he noticed Jay. For a few moments he and the old man
conversed in Spanish until The Ice Man gave in and helped
Jay onto his own boat and the old man headed back to land.

Ice: So, you guys found me. Who gave
you the address?

Jay: I was in London, his name was
Monty.

Ice: I'm going to have to have some
words with him. Anyway, what brings down this way?

Jay: I'll get back to that but first,
what are you doing down here?

Ice: Can't you tell? I'm selling
drinks.

Jay: What?

The Ice Man sighed and pointed to a small boat about a
hundred yards away on the water.

Ice: You see that old man there? He is
out here every single day. He goes around to various places
to collect conch, and then he pulls up to that exact spot
every day to clean the conch and throw the shells into the
water.

Jay looks over towards the small boat
and slowly nods, still
slightly confused. Ice points around to the myriad of other
boats in the area.

Ice: You see all those other boats?
They are all here because of him. It's the circle of life
Jay. See, those shells attract amazing numbers of sea life;
from Sting Rays to Barracuda. That in turn attracts a lot of
tourists, and that my friend, is why you find me here. I
have turned this boat into a mobile bar. I sell them drinks
so they can relax on the boats when they are done. It's
actually not a bad little business.

Jay: That is… amazing.

Ice: Yes it is, now what exactly are
you doing here? Cause I will tell you right now, I am not
going back.

Jay: It's The Phoenix, he called me
and he needs your help.

Ice: Will? Did he say what he needed
help with?

Jay: I don't know. I heard that he had
been made the commissioner of NLW, and all he said to me was
that he had some problems that only you could help
with.

Ice: Get over there an pull up the
anchor, I'll be right back.

In one quick motion Ice pulled off his shirt and dove into
the water below. Jay began pulling up the anchor as he
watched Ice swim towards the small boat in the distance. As
Jay laid the anchor inside the boat he sat down and watched
as The Ice Man shook the old man's hand and began the swim
back. When he returned he threw his shirt back on and walked
downstairs to turn on the engine. Moments later he was back
topside and behind the controls.

Ice: Brace yourself Jay, we're headed
home.

FBI Agent: So you are telling me that
you spent the last several months selling drinks to tourists
from the back of a boat in the Caribbean?

Ice: Yes, that is exactly what I am
telling you.

FBI Agent: And you expect me to
believe that this whole thing, from your trip to London to
your boat business, was all because you just wanted to leave
the wrestling business behind?

Ice: For the last time yes. Why is
that so hard for you to believe?

FBI Agent: You know, it's a good story
and all, but here is what I think happened. I think you
panicked. I think that you have been on the run, afraid that
somebody would find out what you did and call us. I think
that you fled the country to avoid prosecution.

Ice: Prosecution for what exactly? I
did nothing wrong. Ask Special Agent Rachael Anderson, she
was with me until I left, she knows I didn't do anything.

FBI Agent: I would love to ask Agent
Anderson, but here's the thing. She missing and presumed
dead. Has been since the very day you left the states.

The Phoenix and I have been though a lot. We've faced off
in the ring, and we've stood side by side in the face of
many adversaries. A lot of people will say that I only came
back to the NLW for glory, or to win more championships, but
that isn't true. I came back because a friend needed my
help. After all that we had been through together there was
no way I could leave him alone in his time of need. It is
just a happy coincidence that as I return a tournament is
held for the NLW Championship.

In fact it isn't only the fact that it's the first step in
the tournament that makes my fight against JC a special one.
I am sure that there are many people out there that will be
watching closely hoping that The Phoenix's 'Guard Dogs' tear
each other apart. As much as I hate to say it those people
may get what they want. JC has a chance to prove himself as
a true force in NLW, and I find myself with a chance to
accomplish another milestone in my career; a chance to be
the first ever triple crown champion in the NLW. At first
when I saw the brackets for the tournament I was a bit
disappointed. You see as I look across to the other first
round match I see that the Anarchy X championship is on the
line; a belt that many consider to be MY belt. However, as
the days passed and I began to think about it, the match I
got is the match that I truly belong in. I have held the
Anarchy X many times, and the NLW Championship twice, but
the one singles belt I have never held is the Legacy
Championship. It seems as though the stars have aligned to
make this match between JC and myself possible. Between
coming back at the right time and pulling JC for the first
round it almost seems like it is my destiny to win this
championship, and JC's destiny is to see it happen in
person.
